The course is laid out mostly on Gary Player's farm, home to his family and his Gary Player Stud for 30 years; he designed it over about 20 years and his practice tee and range are still there.
The estate says a visiting King George planted an oak outside the old farmhouse in 1947 after tasting cream from the Douglas Jersey farm, and that the tree still stands outside Player's house. The club names King George the Fifth, but the 1947 royal tour of South Africa was made by George VI.

Holes 14, 15 and 16 are the three longest consecutive par 4s in South Africa, 1,509 metres from the pro tees; the 16th runs 512 metres uphill.

The Crocodile River runs through the course: the halfway house after the 8th is a wooden deck under trees overlooking it, and the par-3 8th plays from a high tee to a green on the far bank.

Gary Player modelled the 4th, a dogleg-left par 4 whose tee shot must carry the Crocodile River, on the 13th at Augusta National.

The layout has five par 5s and five par 3s, starts from a single first tee and rambles into the countryside rather than looping home; the clubhouse is glimpsed only at the 12th green before a final loop of six holes.

The estate says the course, at over 7,500 metres, has eleven water-featured holes; the opening par 5 falls steeply to a 1,200 square-metre green nestled into a large dam.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
The clubhouse is drawn by GNN from reference photographs; the photographs stay private.
