Rain twice suspended play at the 2010 Ryder Cup, the first in Wales, which finished on a Monday; the USA rallied in the singles until Graeme McDowell beat Hunter Mahan 3 & 1 in the anchor match to win it 14½-13½ for Europe. "I have never felt as nervous in my life," McDowell said.
In the late 1970s Sir Terence Matthews bought a near-derelict manor house and made it a small hotel that won the Egon Ronay Best Hotel in Wales award five years running, the start of the resort.
Opened in July 2007, the Twenty Ten was the first course in history built specifically to host the Ryder Cup.

Nine new holes were routed through the Usk Valley and joined to nine re-fashioned holes from the former Wentwood Hills course.
Water hazards come into play on half the holes; early holes have a links-like feel with long rough and greenside swales before a lake-lined middle section and an elevated closing stretch of four holes.

The Twenty Ten Clubhouse, purpose-built for the 2010 Ryder Cup, has a wraparound balcony overlooking the 18th green, which the resort calls a signature hole.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
