The nearby Battle of Solferino and San Martino left about 40,000 dead and wounded among 250,000 soldiers. Swiss businessman Henri Dunant witnessed the aftermath and wrote "A Memory of Solferino", which led to his co-founding the Red Cross in 1863 and to the 1864 Geneva Convention.
Chervò hosted the 77th Italian Open in 2020, and England's Ross McGowan won it at 268 (20 under).

The closing par 5 of the Benaco nine and the closing par 4 of the Solferino nine run alongside the same small lake and finish on one large double green in front of the clubhouse.
The resort is built around a 12th-century Benedictine abbey, the historic heart of the San Vigilio estate.
The course sits between San Martino della Battaglia, with its commemorative tower to the north, and the Solferino battlefield to the south, and its three nines are named San Martino, Solferino and Benaco.
The parkland holes cross open fields and vineyards about 10 km from the shore of Lake Garda.
The PGA Tour and DP World Tour weeks at this course since 2017.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
