GCSAA lists no rough at El Cardonal: paspalum wall to wall, fairways about 60 yards wide, on a former 1,600-acre ranch.
Tiger Woods modelled El Cardonal, his first course (opened 2014), on the old-style Southern California courses he grew up on, with angles of approach meant to dictate shot choice.
Natural arroyos serve as the course's drainage features; Tropical Storm Lorena's 7 inches of rain on 2-3 Sept 2025 cut them into deep channels that had to be rebuilt.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
The clubhouse is drawn by GNN from reference photographs; the photographs stay private.
