A charitable foundation led by Tom Cousins bought the declining club in 1993 to restore it as a tribute to Jones; the East Lake Foundation used the restoration to revitalise the surrounding community.

From 2016 the PGA Tour reversed East Lake's nines for the Tour Championship so the event finishes on a par 5 instead of a par 3.

The 16th has a citadel green with a cliff-like shaved fall-off on the right; Andrew Green restored it after reading Bobby Jones describe a miss there as the "pit of despair".

Green reinstated the original trench bunker down the left of the 17th and removed the cross bunker in front of the green so the hole can be driven from a forward tee.

The 2024 restoration was guided by a previously unknown 1949 aerial photograph showing Donald Ross's green and bunker shapes before George Cobb's 1959 changes; the routing stayed but every green was rebuilt in TifEagle Bermuda.

All profits from the club go to the East Lake Foundation, which supports the surrounding neighbourhood, giving the club its motto "Golf with a Purpose".

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
The routing and ground are drawn from OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). The clubhouse is drawn by GNN from reference photographs; the photographs stay private.
