During the 2011-14 Weiman/Currier renovation the club bucked the trend by clearing trees; Hurricanes Irene and Sandy "helped", with an estimated 1,200 trees lost between the two storms. Superintendent Craig Currier, a former Augusta National worker and the young superintendent at Bethpage Black for the 2002 U.S. Open, styled the bunkering as an homage to Augusta.

Of the 27 holes, the Red nine was left relatively untouched from Joe Finger's 1971 design, while the championship White and Blue nines were overhauled by Joel Weiman; the 2017 Northern Trust borrowed Red 4 and 5 for its composite.
