Pepe Gancedo adapted a former banana plantation, keeping its terraces and stone walls along wide fairways, set off by white-sand bunkers.
The course in the south of Tenerife looks out over the sea to the island of La Gomera, with mountain views behind.
The club cites an average annual temperature of 22 °C, allowing year-round play.
In 2004 the greens were replanted with a latest-generation Bermuda chosen to survive on far less water, and the whole course is irrigated with treated wastewater.
