Franz Wittmann, Austria's most successful rally driver (12 national titles, 13 Jänner Rallye wins and a 1987 world-championship round win in New Zealand), took up golf in 1987 and built Adamstal with partner Hans Zöchling and Canadian-Irish architect Jeff Howes. It opened as nine holes in 1995 and became 18 in 1998; Wittmann later served as president of the Austrian Golf Association from 2006 to 2013.

The 7th on the Championship Course is named "Green Monster"; every hole at Adamstal carries a name, from No. 1 "Auacker" to No. 18 "Hochfeld".
The 16th is called "R1 Kehre" (R1 hairpin), a rally-driving name on a course founded by Austria's most successful rally driver.

The club plays out of a restored clubhouse more than 100 years old, in an Alpine-foothill valley that was already a summer retreat in the days of the Habsburg monarchy.

Directly above the golf club is a private gravel rally stage several kilometres long, where guests can ride as co-driver with Franz Wittmann Senior or Junior in a 320-hp Mitsubishi Evolution.
The Championship Course has up to five tees on each hole, so the layout the Challenge Tour played can be shortened for every standard of golfer.
The PGA Tour and DP World Tour weeks at this course since 2017.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
