Michael Blesch and Ralf Lühmann were both 26 when they founded Green Eagle outside Hamburg in 1997 as an open, affordable club. The Süd Course opened in 1999–2000, and the Nord Course followed in 2006–2008, aimed from the start at international professional events.
After a 2016 redesign of greens and bunkers for the European Tour, the Nord Course hosted its first Porsche European Open in 2017 and was renamed the Porsche Nord Course. Jordan Smith won that first edition in a playoff with Alexander Lévy.
Green Eagle is building a new 18-hole stadium West Course on the old Süd Course land, due to open fully in 2027, with the stated aim of hosting the 2035 Ryder Cup.
Seventeen of the Nord Course's 18 holes have water hazards, some running from tee to green; at 7,057 m from the champions' tee, the club says it is the European Tour's longest course and, by DGV course rating, the hardest in Germany.
PGA professional Michael Blesch built Green Eagle's courses himself with his long-serving greenkeeping team rather than hiring an outside construction firm.
Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
