The committee decided in 1935 that Alister MacKenzie's 1927 triple-tiered greens were too tough and had John Burke flatten them; Martin Hawtree reinstated MacKenzie's character in 1999.
In the third round of the 2019 Irish Open, Lahinch's first, Robert Rock birdied the last six holes for a record 60 and missed a 35-foot eagle putt for 59 by inches; Jon Rahm won by two.
John Burke won the South of Ireland Championship, played at Lahinch every year since 1895, 11 times between 1928 and 1946.
The short par-5 4th: a blind second shot must clear Klondyke, a towering dune straddling the fairway about 200 yards from the green.
The blind par-3 5th, left untouched since Old Tom Morris made it, has its green hidden between sandhills; a stone on top of a dune marks the day's hole location.
The original goats belonged to caddie Tommy Walsh, who caddied for John Ball; tradition holds that goats sheltering near the clubhouse mean bad weather, while goats out in the far sandhills mean a fine day.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
