The Heritage opened in July 1994 with a charity skins match in which Seve Ballesteros edged course designer Jack Nicklaus ten skins to eight, with Tony Jacklin trailing; Sir Denis Thatcher had opened the club in September 1993.
Ross Fisher won the 2008 European Open on the Heritage by seven shots; in 2009 Frenchman Christian Cevaer, ranked 449th in the world, won it by one.
The club lies in rolling Kent countryside near Ash Green, close to the Brands Hatch motor-racing circuit.
The par-3 7th has two drop zones because its lake swallows hundreds of balls.
The short par-4 13th asks for an iron off the tee and a short iron across the lake to a narrow green sloping away.
On the par-5 5th a lake edged in stonework guards the green.
The PGA Tour and DP World Tour weeks at this course since 2017.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
