In 1897 the Los Angeles Golf Club laid out nine holes on a leased 16-acre lot at Pico and Alvarado. They called the course "The Windmill Links" because the clubhouse was the bottom of an abandoned windmill.
The North has five par 3s, from the 290-yard 11th to the 15th, which plays as short as about 80 yards and was set at 78 yards at the 2017 Walker Cup; the 2023 U.S. Open was the first since 1947 on a course with five par 3s.
From the course and clubhouse the views include the Griffith Observatory (seen from the Reagan Terrace), the Hollywood Sign, Mt. Baldy and the downtown skyline; the Playboy Mansion overlooks the back nine.
Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
