Blackstone was built over a bed of lava rock capped with material brought from about 25 miles away; holes were routed to avoid cutting rock and to save mature lychee trees, and the course has no rough, only fairway cut.
The Blackstone Course hosted the 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup, won by Americans Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland.

Lava-rock walls and village ruins built years before the course remain on the property as a record of the site's past.
Irregular lines of turf and native lava rock replace the usual hard course edges, with wild bunker edges blending into the rock and the lava bed used for forced carries.
The closing holes play in and out of a hub of raised terrain, so spectators can watch the last holes with little need to move.
The 2026 Hainan Classic used an unusual format of 36 holes on two courses (Blackstone and Vintage) starting at the same time.

Planet Golf notes the difficulty starts at the 1st, a mid-length par 4 whose super-shallow green falls away more than ten feet at the rear.
The PGA Tour and DP World Tour weeks at this course since 2017.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
