Rinkven was founded in 1981 with a clubhouse in simple farm buildings, on land the owner, Mr Orban, let the club use free for its first ten years. After that the club was able to buy the land outright, which secured its future.
In 2018 Rinkven staged the European Tour's new Belgian Knockout, which combined stroke-play qualifying with nine-hole knockout matches. Spain's Adrián Otaegui won it, beating Benjamin Hébert in the final, and Guido Migliozzi won the second and last edition in 2019.

The 2025 Soudal Open at Rinkven went to a playoff, and Norway's Kristoffer Reitan beat Ewen Ferguson and Darius van Driel after all three finished at 13 under par.

About half the holes on the North Course have greens raised above their surrounds, so the club warns the course plays longer than its card.

The South Course's 3rd is a par 3 of only 126 metres that the club calls remarkable for its difficulty, because a ring of pot bunkers defends the green.

The original 18 holes were built on forest and fenland on the south and east of the property that had previously served as a hunting estate.
Before the Hawtree rerouting, Rinkven's four nines were known by colours: red, white and yellow, plus the blue nine opened in 2006. They are now the North and South Courses.
The clubhouse completed under the 2017 masterplan looks out over the two finishing holes, replacing a 1986 building the club calls "utilitarian".

Fourth nine (the "blue course") opened on farmland bought in 2002 north and east of the original estate.
Complete rerouting into North and South Courses to a 2009 Hawtree plan: seven new holes (four new on the South Course) and renovation of the rest; part of the masterplan finished in 2017 with a new clubhouse and practice facilities.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
