Before the course was built, the grounds were a film location, most notably for the 1923 Robin Hood with Douglas Fairbanks and the 1938 Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn.
In 1999 Tiger Woods beat David Duval 2 & 1 in the "Showdown at Sherwood". Wikipedia calls it the first prime-time live golf match.

The club's guest rules state that Sherwood Country Club does not allow tipping.
Lake Sherwood, originally Potrero Lake, was created in 1904 by the Alturas Dam; at 165 acres the club calls it the oldest artificial lake in California, renamed after the 1923 Robin Hood film.
Artifacts from two of seventeen Chumash sites uncovered within the expanse of Lake Sherwood are displayed in the golf clubhouse.
Scenes from Tarzan and Birth of a Nation were filmed on the site, and the clubhouse itself has appeared in The Mentalist and the film Bridesmaids.
Sherwood hosted Greg Norman's Shark Shootout from 1989 to 1999 and Tiger Woods's World Challenge from 2000 to 2013; Fred Couples and Ray Floyd shot a 57 in the second round of the 1990 Shootout.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
The clubhouse is drawn by GNN from reference photographs; the photographs stay private.
