After the 2020 edition was lost to COVID-19, the first Scandinavian Mixed, with 78 men and 78 women playing for one prize fund from different tees, was held at Vallda in June 2021; Jonathan Caldwell closed with a 64 to beat Adrián Otaegui by one, with Alice Hewson the best woman in third.

Vallda belongs to the Ernst Rosén group, a Gothenburg property company founded in the 1950s by master builder Ernst Rosén and now in its fourth generation, which also owns Barsebäck Resort.

Martin Hawtree, inspired by 1920s classics, laid a Scottish-style inland links on West Coast meadowland; tonnes of sand went over the hard clay base and 40 km of drainage ran under the playing areas before it opened in 2009.

The playing surfaces are red fescue: staff hand-pick other grasses that come up and keep water and fertiliser low, so the course often plays dry and yellow by design.

The course has been given the title "Sveriges roligaste bana" (Sweden's most fun course) and is ranked among Sweden's top ten.
