On December 13, 2024 Winged Foot was designated a National Historic Landmark; a 1923 time capsule from the clubhouse cornerstone was opened for the centennial.
Billy Casper won the 1959 U.S. Open partly by deliberately laying up short of the par-3 3rd green in all four rounds and pitching close; he made four pars there and gained two strokes on the field.
The 10th, a par 3 of up to 194 yards named Pulpit, has a house just outside the grounds about 40 yards behind the green, which led Ben Hogan to call it "a three-iron into somebody's bedroom."
The par-4 14th takes its name from the shape of its green, which A.W. Tillinghast imagined as three lobes and a stem.
Every West Course hole is named, running from No. 1 "Genesis" to No. 18 "Revelations", with names such as "Babe-in-the-Woods" (7), "Hells-Bells" (16) and "Well-Well" (17) in between.
The dogleg-right par-4 2nd is named Elm for the specimen tree guarding its kidney-shaped green.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
