The context is the season-long race. A halfway lead at a late-season event matters most for a player chasing the Race to Dubai, because every point earned now carries weight in the final standings. Jarvis does not need to win to stay in the conversation, but a victory would put him in a strong position. Rozner, the Frenchman, shares the top spot and gives Jarvis a direct rival on the weekend leaderboard.
Jarvis has the Race to Dubai in sight.
Two rounds are complete and 36 holes remain. Jarvis has shown he can post a score under par when it counts. The question for the weekend is whether he can protect that position against a co-leader and the players chasing them.
