# Wanamaker Avenue > An interactive painted avenue with one tree for each of the 108 PGA Championships played from 1916 to 2026 (1917, 1918 and 1943 were not played). Built from a compiled record; every figure on the page comes from pga.json. ## What the page shows - The avenue: one tree per Championship in date order, each in the season of the month its title was decided. The Wanamaker Trophy stands on a column at the far end. - Match-play years (1916-1957, 39 Championships): the tree branches exactly as the recorded bracket; the trunk is the final. - Stroke-play years (1958-2026, 69 Championships): roots for the field, the cut as a pruning line, rounds 1 to 4 as rings and the final climb, the 54-hole picture by real strokes behind, playoffs as twisting branches (one twist per playoff hole), collapses as cracked branches. - Each opened tree lists the champion, runner-up, scores, field and cut (media-guide figures beside the kept figures when they differ; Wikipedia-only values marked unconfirmed), world rank, medalist (match play), and the low club professional (a lit lantern when named, a dark lantern when none made the cut). - The champion moment: the champion's finish silhouette filled with a landscape painted for his home region, from the birthplace in the data. - Follow a player: every name links to a player view (?player=walter-hagen) that lights every tree he touched (a crown where he won, a branch where he was runner-up, a leaf for each match-play round he won, a lantern where he was low club professional, a crack where he collapsed) with his titles, runner-up years, match-play record and his other GNN rooms. - Lenses (?lens=playoffs): playoffs, collapses (54-hole leaders who lost), wire-to-wire, came from behind after 54, first majors, youngest and oldest, winners by country, same venue, match play and stroke play, club pros who made the cut, holes-in-one, rules controversies. Counts are the data's own. - Medallions on each plinth: playoff, wire to wire, first major, record score, collapse, hole-in-one, first winner from his country, last match-play year, Wanamaker missing. - Inside a tree: the race after each round, the 54-hole lead change, the playoff, the field and the cut, the lantern; in match play the bracket round by round and each match. - The records at the Wanamaker end (?records), the trophy's story (?wanamaker), and any two years side by side (?compare=1978,1925). Every tree has its own address (?year=1978). ## Data rules - Values are shown exactly as recorded. "unknown" stays unknown. No count is invented. - Caddie and course length appear only where the record has them. - No hole-by-hole data exists for stroke play, so no shot-by-shot story is drawn. ## Files - pga.json: the full record (tables 1A-1H per year, 2A-2B brackets and matches, 3A-3B champions, 4B-4P stories and records, appendix A1-A4 Wikipedia-only values).
