The 2025 SA Open at Durban Country Club was cut to 54 holes by rain, and Dylan Naidoo won it in a playoff against Laurie Canter on the 318-yard par-4 18th.

The bridge that crosses to the 13th green was part-funded in memory of Walter Murray Grindrod, a member for close on 70 years and five-time club champion; the club suggests the crossing could be called "Murray's Move" because the last five holes are where a match is won or lost.

One of the course's bridges is named for Major A.T. Jonsson; the club's plaque page tells how he was called off the course on the morning his wife gave birth to what turned out, by four that afternoon, to be triplets.

Laid out in the 1920s as a treeless links-style course among the dunes, the routing plays out to the far end of the property and returns to the clubhouse for the first time only at the 18th, with the halfway house in the middle of the course.

The par-3 12th, "Prince of Wales", has a Biarritz-style dent in the middle of its tabletop green, and since the 2024 reopening it plays in the opposite direction to the new par-3 15th, so the prevailing wind treats the two differently.

The Waterman Cup, a 36-hole medal event named for George Waterman who helped build the course, is one of the club's historic trophies and was first presented in 1924.

A local rule makes the closely mown 10th fairway out of bounds for any tee shot on the 14th; for any later stroke the 10th fairway is back in play.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
The routing and ground are drawn from OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). The clubhouse is drawn by GNN from reference photographs; the photographs stay private.
