Sung-hoon Kang set the Shore Course record with a 60 at the 2016 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He only learned it was a record while signing his card, and said he had not realised the course was a par 71.

Monterey Peninsula CC was one of the original courses when the Crosby moved to the peninsula in 1947. Spyglass Hill replaced it in 1967, and MPCC returned in 2010 in place of Poppy Hills.
Mike Strantz began the Shore Course redesign in early 2002, around the time he was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. He stayed on site throughout construction, working beside his shapers, and died at 50 shortly after the course reopened; it was his last project.

Mike Strantz reversed the old direction of play so holes turn toward the ocean instead of away from it, keeping the bones of the opening and closing holes and building twelve new holes on the seaside ground.

The course sits on the peninsula's western coast between Cypress Point Club and Pacific Grove; several greens and turning points are aimed at the Pacific or at Cypress Point, and the 13th green looks out over Cypress Point's dunes.

Decorative boulders and rock formations frame several of the par 3s and the 6th and 15th, and many greens are guarded by sandy waste areas rather than formal bunkers.

David Zinkand's renovation, completed in phases to 2025, cut turf for native fescue areas, thinned overgrown coyote brush to open views of the native cypress, and pulled seaside features into the inland holes.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
