In 1869 Union Civil War general John Franklin Miller bought 1,200 acres of Rancho Yajome in the Napa wilderness and built the estate he named La Vergne. After his death in 1886 his daughter Eudora inherited it and hosted guests including Theodore Roosevelt; the golf course came later, during the property's many changes of ownership from 1932 to 2010.
The clubhouse is General John Franklin Miller's 1870s mansion, La Vergne, built with Italian and French features; the resort's Mansion Bar occupies its former great living room.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
