In the mid-1970s Peter Alliss told PGA director Colin Snape over a pie and a pint that an old hotel near Birmingham was available as a PGA headquarters; the Brabazon opened in 1977 with Seve Ballesteros and Johnny Miller against Tony Jacklin and Brian Barnes.
Sam Torrance holed the winning birdie putt at the Belfry in 1985 as Europe won 16½-11½, the breakthrough of the modern Ryder Cup.
The 2002 Ryder Cup, delayed a year by the 11 September attacks, was sealed when Paul McGinley holed an 8-foot par putt on the 18th to halve with Jim Furyk; Europe won 15½-12½.
The 1989 match was tied 14-14, only the second halved Ryder Cup, and Europe retained the trophy as holders; it featured the largest tented village then seen at a British sporting event.
A short par 4 of about 300 yards with water along the right of the fairway, made famous on television when Seve Ballesteros drove the green.
The par-4 closing hole bends around water off the tee and its approach must carry a lake to a long, narrow, triple-tiered green.
The Brabazon has hosted more Ryder Cups than any other course: 1985, 1989, 1993 and 2002.
The course is named after former PGA president Lord Brabazon; Dave Thomas's £2.7m late-1990s makeover left it with more water than almost any other inland course in the British Isles.
The PGA Tour and DP World Tour weeks at this course since 2017.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
