At the 2006 Ryder Cup, Darren Clarke's first event since the death of his wife Heather, Clarke beat Zach Johnson on Sunday soon after Henrik Stenson holed the winning putt and broke down in tears, embraced by both captains, Ian Woosnam and Tom Lehman.
Europe won the 2006 Ryder Cup 18½-9½, equalling the record margin, in the first Ryder Cup played in Ireland.

The K Club is the first and only Irish venue to host the Ryder Cup (2006), and had hosted 13 European Opens from 1991 to 2007.

Every value is shown as recorded in GNN's tour-course research (profiles, championship history, the tour's visits since 2017, stories, details and course changes, each with its sources). A value no source confirmed is left out; nothing is estimated. The light in the room is the sun's real position on the last day of a recorded visit.
