2026: Nobody owned it
Nobody owned 2026. Four majors went to four men from four countries. Four players sit on three wins. Leads kept slipping. Scottie Scheffler won in January, then kept finishing just behind: second at the Masters by one, beaten in two playoffs. He won two of the three playoff events to draw level at three.
1 · 11 Jan
The season began with a cancellation. The Sentry was called off because of drought and a water dispute at Kapalua.
2 · 18 Jan–8 Feb
Chris Gotterup won the Sony Open, then beat Hideki Matsuyama in a playoff at Phoenix. Two wins by 8 February; nobody else had more than one.
3 · 15–22 Mar
Ludvig Åberg led The Players by three after 54 holes. Cameron Young birdied 17 and won when Matt Fitzpatrick missed. A week later Fitzpatrick won the Valspar. On LIV, Bryson DeChambeau won back to back.
4 · 12 Apr, the Masters
Rory McIlroy won back-to-back green jackets, 276 (−12), one shot ahead of Scheffler.
5 · 19–26 Apr
Fitzpatrick beat Scheffler in a playoff at the Heritage, then won the Zurich with his brother Alex, the first brothers to win it. First to three wins.
6 · 17 May, the PGA Championship
Aaron Rai won his first major at Aronimink, closing 67-65 to win by three from Rahm and Smalley.
7 · 21 Jun, the U.S. Open
Wyndham Clark led by six after 54 holes at Shinnecock. He closed with 73 and won by one from Burns. His second win in a month.
8 · 29 Jun
Scheffler missed a short birdie putt and Viktor Hovland won the Travelers in a Monday playoff. Scheffler's second playoff loss of the year.
9 · 19 Jul, the Open
Burns led by two after 54 holes. Ryan Fox shot 62 in the third round and won his first major by one from Cameron Young. Four majors, four champions, four countries.
10 · The new faces
First Tour wins for Jacob Bridgeman, Ricky Castillo, Kristoffer Reitan, Bud Cauley and Michael Thorbjornsen. Jackson Koivun, 21, won the 3M in his third start as a pro.
11 · LIV's year
Jon Rahm clinched a third straight LIV season title. Michael La Sasso, 22, became LIV's youngest winner at the finale, and the $40 million Team Championship was canceled.
12 · 16–30 Aug
Scheffler won the St. Jude. Clark nearly gave away the BMW but held on for his third win. At the Tour Championship Hovland led by three after 54 holes; Scheffler went 65-67-66-66 and won by three. Four players on three wins.
13 · Still being written
Bridgeman and Michael Brennan added second wins in the fall. Five official events are left, Bermuda on 25 October to the RSM on 22 November. Everything ahead is still wireframe.
