What happened at the 1967 U.S. Amateur

On the 72nd hole Dickson drove into a stand of small pines; his six-iron backswing struck an overhead TV cable, he took a free two-club-length drop from the obstruction, advanced to 80 yards, pitched to six feet and holed the par putt to beat Giles by one

Dickson, who lost the 1965 title after a four-stroke 15-club penalty, completed the British-U.S. Amateur double, the first since Lawson Little in 1935

Final round, Bob Dickson v. Vinny Giles, Dickson 285, Giles 286. Paired together, Giles stayed within one all day and birdied the 17th to cut the lead to one; on the 72nd Dickson drove into pines, took a drop from a TV cable obstruction, pitched to six feet and holed for par.

No draw: stroke play

From 1965 to 1972 the U.S. Amateur was 72 holes of stroke play, so there is no bracket for 1967.
