What happened at the 1922 Women’s Amateur
Both finalists went round in 84 in the morning with Joyce Wethered one up; in the afternoon Wethered won the 2nd to the 6th and Cecil Leitch, seven down at the turn, lost 9 and 7 (Golf Illustrated 1922-06; Daily Telegraph, Launceston, 1922-05-22).
Leitch, needing silence, stopped on the 10th green until spectators ceased talking, then missed the putt to go eight down, and when the match ended on the next green she kicked the ball away (Golf Illustrated 1922-06).
