What happened at the 1926 Women’s Amateur

Cecil Leitch was nine up after the morning round of the final and beat Mrs. Percy Garon 8 and 7, becoming the first player to win the title four times (APA cable 1926-06-24).

In the semi-finals Leitch avenged her French final defeat by Simone Thion de la Chaume a few weeks earlier, winning 4 and 3 (Papuan Courier 1926-09-17; The Week 1926-07-02).

Semifinal, Cecil Leitch v. Simone Thion de la Chaume. Cecil Leitch beat Simone Thion de la Chaume 4 and 3 in the semi-finals, weeks after the French girl had beaten her in the French championship final (The Week 1926-07-02; Papuan Courier 1926-09-17).

Unknown, Cecil Leitch v. Mary Mann. In the second round at Harlech Cecil Leitch beat Melbourne's Mary Mann 7 and 5 after Mann had gone off with the lead; Leitch squared at the 5th and won the next three (West Australian 1926-06-23).
