Moments

  1. 1977 U.S. Women's Open Stacy's opening 70 was the low round of the day and was not bettered by anyone all week; she led outright after every round, the only start-to-finish winner of the decade besides Caponi (1970) and Carner (1971) in the record book's list.
  2. 1977 U.S. Women's Open Head-to-head with Stacy on the final day, newly professional Nancy Lopez matched her closing 74 but finished two back; Lopez later joked to Stacy that she would have won if her zipper had not broken during the round.
  3. 1978 U.S. Women's Open Sally Little, eight strokes behind Stacy after three rounds of 75, closed with a 65 - the first 65 in championship history and still the record-book low fourth round - and waited in the clubhouse at 290 while the leaders finished.
  4. 1978 U.S. Women's Open One ahead of Carner on the par-5 18th (the nines were reversed), Stacy hit her tee shot badly fat, advanced a fairway wood that skipped through the front bunker to the fringe, chipped to about five feet and holed the par putt to win by one.
  5. 1984 U.S. Women's Open Five strokes back after a 6 at the 4th hole on Sunday, Stacy holed a 7-iron second shot for an eagle 2 at the 13th and a 20-foot birdie putt at the 16th to catch the leaders.
  6. 1984 U.S. Women's Open Needing pars to force a playoff, Rosie Jones bogeyed the 18th and Amy Alcott double-bogeyed it, handing Stacy the title by one.
