Moments

1. 1958 U.S. Women's Open Leading Fay Crocker by one at halfway, Wright 'barged into a seven-stroke lead' with a 70 in Saturday morning's third round, when no one else in the field broke 73.
2. 1958 U.S. Women's Open Her 290 (70-74 on the 36-hole final day, two under par) broke the championship record of 291 set by Babe Zaharias in 1954, and came weeks after she won the LPGA Championship - the first player to win both in the same year.
3. 1959 U.S. Women's Open Two behind 36-hole leader Louise Suggs, Wright shot 69 in Saturday morning's third round to lead by four, as Suggs fell back with a 75.
4. 1959 U.S. Women's Open Wright nearly threw it away with bogeys on the last three holes - she missed the green on the 16th, hit into a creek and a bunker on the 17th and three-putted the 18th - but her closing 71 still beat Louise Suggs (69) by two for an unprecedented second title and a record 287.
5. 1961 U.S. Women's Open After a second-round 80 left her four strokes off the lead, Wright shot a three-under-par 69 on Saturday morning, the only sub-par round of the championship, to retake the lead.
6. 1961 U.S. Women's Open Wright closed with an even-par 72 in the afternoon for a six-stroke victory over defending champion Betsy Rawls, her third Women's Open title in four years.
7. 1964 U.S. Women's Open At the 72nd hole Ruth Jessen knocked a fairway-wood approach to three feet for a birdie to tie, and moments later Wright, in a greenside bunker, got up and down for par to force a playoff.
8. 1964 U.S. Women's Open In the Sunday 18-hole playoff Wright went out in 35 and came home in 35 for a 70 (three under) to Jessen's 36-36=72, winning her fourth Women's Open in her hometown.
