What happened at the 1950 Amateur Championship

Final: Stranahan beat Chapman 8 & 6 in wet, slow conditions (the 30 holes took 5 hr 40 min), finishing with a drive to four yards of the 316-yard 13th green, a chip and a single putt.

Semifinal: Chapman beat Jimmy McHale 1 up in a "needle" match in which McHale repeatedly protested about Chapman's caddie standing on his line; 54-year-old Cyril Tolley, twice champion, lost the other semi 4 & 3.
