What happened at the 1987 Women’s Amateur
Janet Collingham beat 17-year-old Susan Shapcott at the 19th in a final that took almost four hours, pausing a full minute before tapping in the winning nine-inch putt.
Collingham needed 20 holes to beat Irish Curtis Cup veteran Mary McKenna in the quarter-finals before beating Karen Davies 2 and 1 in the semi-finals.
