What happened at the 1993 Open Championship
Norman's closing 64 (out in 31, a 9-iron to 6 inches at the 9th) set the record for the lowest winning final round and a record 267 total. He missed from 14 inches at the 17th.
Bernhard Langer drove out of bounds onto Prince's Golf Club at the 14th. Faldo had shot the first 63 at Royal St George's in round 2.
Norman closed with a record 64 to win by two, and no source names a deciding hole; the R&A says his miss from 14 inches at the 17th "did not matter."
