What happened at the 1980 Pretty Polly Women's British Open
Amateur Marta Figueras-Dotti led by three with three holes to play but bogeyed 16 and 17 and then, wrongly told what Massey had scored, took six at the last to lose by one.
Debbie Massey, five behind Figueras-Dotti after 36 holes, closed with 75 and 72 and sealed the title with a 20-foot putt to become the first American champion.
