Moments

  1. 1979 Open At the 16th in the final round, Ballesteros drove into an overflow car park, took a free drop, pitched onto the green and holed a 20-foot birdie putt (the "car park champion").
  2. 1979 Open Crenshaw double-bogeyed the 17th, and Ballesteros won by three despite hitting only one of nine fairways with his driver in the final round.
  3. 1980 Masters Ballesteros, 23, became the first European to win the Masters and was then the youngest champion in its history.
  4. 1980 Masters Ballesteros led by 10 strokes after the front nine on Sunday, gave back strokes with water trouble at Amen Corner and the 13th, and still won by four.
  5. 1983 Masters Friday's round was rained out, pushing the finish to Monday, where Ballesteros shot 31 on the front nine on his way to a 69 and a four-stroke win.
  6. 1983 Masters It was the first Masters at which players could use their own caddies, and George Archer's daughter Elizabeth became the first woman to caddie in the event.
  7. 1984 Open At the 17th (Road Hole), Watson's 2-iron approach went over the green, close to the road and wall, and he bogeyed, while Ballesteros parred with a 6-iron and two putts.
  8. 1984 Open At the 18th Ballesteros holed a 12-15-foot birdie putt that hung on the lip before dropping, and celebrated with his signature fist pump.
  9. 1988 Open Saturday's play was washed out by heavy rain, so the final round was played on Monday 18 July, the first Monday finish in Open history.
  10. 1988 Open At the 16th Ballesteros hit a 9-iron to 3 inches for the birdie that took the lead. At the 18th he chipped to 6 inches, and Price three-putted to close with a 69.
  11. 1979 Ryder Cup Larry Nelson went 5-0-0, the first player to win five matches at one Ryder Cup, and four of those wins came against Seve Ballesteros.
